She practices in the securities and insurance areas generally and has experience advising life insurance companies, broker-dealers, investment advisers, investment companies, and third-party administrators on federal and state compliance and regulatory matters. She also has worked on legal issues relating to federal and state electronic signature, record, and contract laws and regulations, and she has participated in compliance audits and best practice reviews.
In addition, Ms. Benson is the firm's resource on anti-money laundering compliance matters. She has provided advice to a broad client base on compliance with anti-money laundering laws and regulations. She has assisted financial institutions in the evaluation of existing AML programs, in addition to advising and preparing written agreements delegating AML compliance obligations to affiliated and unaffiliated third-party service providers and other entities. She has counseled clients on their obligations related to reporting suspicious activity and currency transactions, recordkeeping, satisfying customer identification requirements, as well as attended to matters relating to OFAC compliance.
Ms. Benson is a member of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists and she holds the CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) designation.
