FIRST YEAR ASSOCIATES
JORDEN BURT's goal is to hire bright, motivated associates who share our enthusiasm for the practice of law, strive for excellence in their work, and enjoy a collegial working environment. Full time associate positions at JORDEN BURT are highly competitive. Because of the elite nature of the Firm's practice, the demands of its sophisticated client base, and the fact that the Firm seeks to out perform other national law firms with which it competes, JORDEN BURT's hiring criteria focuses on exceptional writing and analytical ability, superior academic performance, and valuable legal experience such as law review or Federal clerkship experience. The Firm also considers a candidate's interpersonal skills, extracurricular activities, potential to relate and work well with clients, and other experience.
JORDEN BURT hires associates whom we believe to be candidates for eventual partnership. Associates are typically considered for partnership after completion of eight to nine years of practice. Partnership decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
The Firm has established a pro bono program which encourages its lawyers to become involved in providing services to those who are unable to afford adequate legal representation. The Firm defines pro bono services as legal services rendered without expectation of a fee or for a nominal fee to: persons of limited means, charitable or civic organizations in matters addressing the needs of persons with limited means, and persons or organizations seeking to secure or protect civil rights, civil liberties or public rights. Each attorney is asked to take on one pro bono matter at a time, with the goal that the Firm will average 50 hours of pro bono work per attorney per year. Up to 50 hours of this pro bono time is counted as part of the attorney's annual billable hours goal.
JORDEN BURT offers a competitive benefits package. Attorneys interested in positions with JORDEN BURT in the Washington, D.C., Miami, FL, or Simsbury, CT office should contact one of the recruiting partners.
JORDEN BURT is an equal opportunity employer. It is the policy of the Firm to provide equal opportunity without regard to race, color, religion, age, gender, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, marital status, veterans reserve status or other legally protected categories.
